Throughout my site I will offer helpful information as you decide which bat-grade fits your current skill level and budget. Don’t be alarmed about this being some kind of smoke-and- mirrors marketing pitch about bat-grades. Along the way I will do my best to help you understand these classifications better. My name is Wes Skidmore and I am the founder and owner of the Charlotte Bat Company. I have over twenty-five years of experience in working with wood, both as a craftsman and as a structural engineer. I started CBC as a revolt against paying such inflated prices for wooden baseball bats. It did not take long for me to realize that I could not help but to embrace the opportunity to blend art and science to make a qualified game bat.

I can only craft around 250 bats a year (I guess I will not be quitting my day job anytime soon!), because from the procurement of the billet, to the shipping of your bat, I will have handled your bat for over two-hours. I take pride in spending this time making the best bat from each piece of wood I have. This type of quality is an American tradition held by all craftsmen.
